Throughout history, we Filipinos have consistently demonstrated our valor, standing resilient against various colonizing forces. Our unwavering spirit was showcased through revolutionary acts, illustrating the essence of the Filipino identity.
In this modern time, despite facing contrasting circumstances, we are very honored to carry the indomitable fighting character we inherited from our great Filipino heroes.
An array of challenges might be on our way – natural calamities, man-made crises, scourge of crimes, and complex societal dilemmas – we witnessed, heard, and felt the struggles of fighting and losing. However, our collective choice is always to move forward and carry on through God’s promises.
Our resilience extends beyond the battlefield; it permeates the struggles of everyday life; from our homes to school, and workplace.
Amidst the suffocating issues plaguing our nation, be it crimes, corruption, economic downturn, or societal challenges surrender is not an option. We, as Filipinos, are committed to overcoming these burdens, ensuring that our united spirit remains unbroken.
Embedded in our rich tapestry of Filipino history is the enduring ‘Bayanihan spirit,’ a unique essence that has propelled us through countless challenges. As one nation and as brethren in Christianity, we are encouraged by the following verse:
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1 Corinthians 1:10).
The Day of Valor, officially known as Araw ng Kagitingan, is a national observance in the Philippines that commemorates the fall of Bataan to Japanese troops during World War II. This day serves as a poignant reminder of our collective resilience and valor as a nation.
The Bayanihan spirit extends beyond the realm of wars, finding its place in the everyday struggles of life and the workplace. As we navigate through the current generation marked by crimes, corruption, economic challenges, and social issues, we hold onto this spiritual strength bestowed on us by the Lord.
It becomes the driving force compelling us to stand united, ensuring that surrender is never an option. For we know that together, we can show what Filipinos are made of. In the face of adversity, the Bayanihan spirit prevails, illuminating our path as we work together to build a stronger and more resilient nation.
As a ka-LIGHT, we bring forth this spirit of unity as we commit to serve the communities by providing access to sustainable and inclusive developmental programs and services. And in this journey, we must always confirm that we live out our name “LIGHT” by displaying our Love of God, Innovativeness, Good Governance, Humility, Transparency, and Integrity of Creation.
