LIGHT Upskilling and Reskilling: Transforming Microfinance Process Through Critical Thinking

As part of enhancing the knowledge, improving the skills, and broadening the competencies of all Main Office staff, LIGHT Microfinance, Inc. conducted a series of Upskilling and Reskilling Sessions titled ‘Transforming Microfinance Process Through Critical Thinking’, profoundly delivered by Noel B. Alipio, President, from April 15 to April 18, 2024, at the LIGHT Main Office in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

On the first day of the sessions, participants engaged in an in-depth discussion of the value and effective utilization of critical thinking, finding ways to integrate their insights into everyday work routines, especially in the workplace.

The momentum continued the following day with a dynamic discussion on the topic and engaging activities that fused critical thinking with corporate leadership lessons, aimed at equipping the staff with strategic insights and practical wisdom.

On April 17, the focus shifted towards a more interactive and collaborative approach, as all staff members participated in reflection and brainstorming workshops within their respective departments. The workshops were focused on departmental case studies, allowing each other to showcase their values and roles while identifying areas for improvement. President, Noel B. Alipio, who emphasized the relation between, risk, causes and effects and understanding its importance towards achieving our goals. It explains how team activities can produce harmony or rhythm in teamwork arrangements.

On the final day of the program, the facilitation featured presentations from all unit and department heads, who shared case studies that detailed their departmental structures, functions, and strategies for addressing identified gaps and providing appropriate solutions.

The Upskilling and Reskilling Sessions provided a valuable platform for all Main Office staff at LIGHT Microfinance, Inc. to refine their skills, foster a deeper understanding of their roles, and enhance their effectiveness in the ever-evolving field of microfinance. Through this initiative, LIGHT MFI underscores its dedication to fostering an environment of growth and continuous improvement, aiming to better serve its clients and the community.
