Mother says it’s FINE, but it’s a LIE

“I’m fine,” is the most common response when we ask our mothers about their day. Whether it’s about the laundry, the dishes, the cooking, managing finances, or balancing work and home life for those employed mothers, the refrain is the same. Being a mother, however, has long been an unrecognized burden and heroism. Some even belittle them, when, in truth, mothers are the ones who make the family matter.

Mothers are master storytellers and actresses. They can make the most challenging feats seem easiest to defeat by smiling through the pain. They can hide even the biggest heartaches that life—or perhaps, we children—cause them. And when mothers lie about their struggles, they do not just hide their pain but also paint a brighter world for their little ones.

In this Mother’s Day celebration, we, the LIGHT family, extend our hugs and appreciation to all the mothers who had also become our fathers, our best friends, our colleagues, our confidants, our teachers, our sisters, and most especially our guardian angels when we needed them. May you receive the same joy you have given us and live your life with the brightest smile you deserve.
