#LIGHTat9: A Celebration of Strength and Courage

On October 25, 2024, LIGHT Microfinance Inc. celebrated its 9th anniversary at Dolores Homesite, San Fernando, Pampanga. The theme “Be Strong & Courageous,” inspired by 1 Corinthians 16:13, highlighted LIGHT’s ongoing community support, faith, and resilience journey.

The program began with the Philippine National Anthem, followed by worship songs led by the Praise and Worship Team, bringing staff, partners, and guests together in a shared moment of faith. Perry P. Paz, NFSG Director, then led an opening prayer, asking for blessings upon LIGHT and the communities it serves. Fr. Eddie T. Panlilio, Chairman, inspired attendees to stand firm in faith, reminding everyone, “This current storm is a temporary setback; no matter the challenges, we will strive and be victorious by God’s grace.”

On behalf of Christ in You Faith International Ministry, Ptra. Edith Pineda, expressed her appreciation for LIGHT, encouraging perseverance, passion, and prayer to witness God’s steadfast presence. In a video message, Atty. Antonio P. Jamon Jr. also celebrated LIGHT’s achievements, emphasizing the importance of partnership and trust. He left a message of hope: “In whatever situation you are in, be joyous, be happy, be thankful, and be prayerful. Tuloy-tuloy lang po tayo sa mga gawain natin; be strong and be courageous!”

The event was graced by key supporters and partners, including Noel Embing, President and Executive Director of LRTDI, and representatives like Kevin Anderson from Peace Corps Volunteers, who noted, “If we strive to be good people, we can create a better world.” Richie San Juan Jr. from Intellicare shared his gratitude, noting the special partnership with LIGHT, while John Paul Llanera from ChinaBank expressed joy over their ongoing collaboration.

An audiovisual presentation recapped major accomplishments and introduced the upcoming theme, “Be Strong and Courageous.” Attendees enjoyed a lunch fellowship, which deepened connections within the LIGHT family and joined in praise and worship led by the Praise and Worship Team, singing LIGHT’s theme song, “Be Strong and Courageous,” an original by Justin Graves Band.

The celebration included recognition awards, honoring selected LIGHT staff for five years of dedicated service, as well as a round of applause for 10-year, 20-year, and the sole 25-year service awardees—a remarkable milestone in the organization’s history.

Concepcion P. Diana, Executive Director, offered heartfelt closing remarks, encouraging everyone to face challenges with strength drawn from God, who “is faithful to complete the good work.” A thanksgiving song and closing prayer by Ptra. Edith D. Pineda brought the event to a close, ending with a joyful photo opportunity to mark this memorable anniversary.

Branches nationwide also celebrated the anniversary in their unique ways. However, some were unable to join due to the impact of tropical storm, Kristine. LIGHT stands with these branches, embodying its commitment to resilience and community support, as the organization moves forward together with strength and courage.

As LIGHT Microfinance Inc. celebrates nine years of service, the theme “Be Strong & Courageous” serves as a powerful reminder of its commitment to uplifting communities and empowering lives through faith and action.
