Intellicare Hosts HMO Benefit Orientation for LIGHT MFI Employees

In a continuing effort to promote employee wellness and benefits awareness, LIGHT Microfinance, Inc., in partnership with Intellicare, held an informative session entitled “Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Benefit Orientation,” on April 25, 2025. The session took place at LIGHT’s main office and was also simulcasted via zoom to all its branches nationwide. The orientation aimed to provide employees with a comprehensive understanding of their healthcare benefits and how to effectively maximize them.

John Christian Bonifacio, Orientation Officer and Resource Speaker from Intellicare, led the session, offering detailed insights into the scope of the HMO coverage. The orientation began by explaining eligibility requirements for all members, ensuring that employees understand their HMO coverage as well as their enrolled dependents if any. Mr. Bonifacio then outlined the plan limits across different services. He also addressed the coverage for pre-existing conditions (PECs), clarifying the waiting periods and how these conditions are managed under the policy provisions.

An important portion of the presentation focused on preventive healthcare benefits, which are available to all members. These include annual physical exams, vaccinations, and regular check-ups — key elements in promoting long-term wellness. The discussion also highlighted outpatient services, ranging from consultations to minor diagnostic procedures, and walked employees through the outpatient availment process to ensure seamless access to these services.

A key feature introduced was Medgate, a telemedicine platform integrated with Intellicare. Employees were thought how to consult with doctors remotely — a more convenient option for those in remote locations or with time constraints. Mr. Bonifacio likewise explained that beneficiaries may consult at Aventus clinics, which offer outpatient medical services, similar to Medgate consultations. Furthermore, he shared that members could access online consultations through TeleAventus, providing even more flexible healthcare access. He also discussed the Agora Intellicare app, Intellicare’s official mobile application. Highlighted were key features of the app, including the ability to search for accredited doctors, hospitals, and clinics, the coverage benefits and healthcare transactions monitoring, thereby making healthcare services more accessible and convenient for members.

In addressing emergency situations, Mr. Bonifacio thoroughly explained the emergency availment procedures, guiding employees on how to access hospital services in urgent cases. He also discussed the eReimbursement process, which enables members to claim eligible medical expenses reimbursed under specific conditions.

The orientation further explained the covered dental benefits, emphasizing routine dental care and procedures included in the plan. In addition to the health coverage, Mr. Bonifacio expounded the life insurance component (FWD Insurance), ensuring that employees are aware of the financial protection provided to their families in unforeseen events. And finally, the session concluded with a Q&A session where a rundown of exclusions and limitations are clarified, giving participants a clear understanding of what services and treatments fall outside of their coverage.

This orientation empowered LIGHT MFI employees with the knowledge needed to navigate their healthcare benefits confidently. By ensuring that every team member is informed, LIGHT continues to invest in the well-being and security of its workforce as its most valuable resources.
