LIGHT Microfinance Inc. successfully conducted its Semestral Organizational Performance Review and Assessment Program on July 20–22, 2026, at Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City. The three-day event, facilitated by Mr. Ian Mark B. Villacruz, Human Resources Development Department Manager, brought together the Board of Trustees, Department Heads, Regional Managers, selected Main Office personnel, and branch representatives in a unified effort to evaluate the institution’s performance during the first half of 2026.
The program served as a strategic platform for reviewing organizational accomplishments, assessing operational challenges, and formulating action plans that will further strengthen institutional effectiveness. More importantly, it reaffirmed LIGHT’s commitment to fulfilling its mission and vision of serving its Partner-Clients with excellence while advancing God’s work through faithful stewardship and transformational leadership.
The first day commenced with a meaningful Praise and Worship followed by an opening prayer, setting a Christ-centered atmosphere for the entire program. Mr. Perry P. Paz, NFSG Director, delivered the morning devotion, reminding everyone that genuine relationships are of far greater value than material wealth and that greener grass can be deceptive sometimes.
Atty. Antonio “Butch” P. Jamon Jr., Corporate Secretary, formally welcomed the participants through his Opening Remarks, challenging everyone with two thought-provoking questions:
“Did we do what God wants us to do? And what needs to be done to accomplish what God wants us to do?”
These questions became the guiding theme of the entire assessment, encouraging participants to evaluate organizational performance not only through measurable results but also through the lens of God’s purpose.
Following the opening remarks, Mr. Ian Mark B. Villacruz presented the program objectives, expected outcomes, and house rules. Ms. Concepcion P. Diana, Executive Director, then delivered the keynote message emphasizing that meaningful organizational growth is achieved through honest reflection, data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, faithful stewardship, and unwavering alignment with God’s mission.
A special learning session followed as Ms. Alma Estolas, President of Rangtay sa Pagrang-ay Microfinance, Inc. (RPMI), shared valuable insights on RPMI’s successful implementation of its four-day work arrangement and its inspiring journey toward achieving Microfinance NGO Regulatory Council (MNRC) Accreditation. Her presentation highlighted best practices, organizational innovations, and lessons that could inspire LIGHT’s own institutional development initiatives.
The morning session concluded with an Audio-Visual Presentation showcasing the accomplishments, operational highlights, and performance reports of all departments as of June 2026, providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the organization’s first-semester achievements.
During the afternoon session, participants actively engaged in a collaborative workshop focused on identifying both internal and external challenges affecting the achievement of LIGHT’s strategic objectives. Through meaningful dialogue and group discussions, participants analyzed areas requiring improvement. Each group presented its outputs during the plenary session, fostering shared learning and collective ownership of the identified organizational concerns. The day’s activities concluded with a heartfelt closing prayer led by Mr. Richard Delos Santos, Internal Audit Department Manager, preparing everyone for a deeper level of discussion on the succeeding day.
The second day likewise began with Praise and Worship, an opening prayer, and a devotional message delivered by Fr. Eddie T. Panlilio, Chairman, who reminded everyone that as followers of Christ, we are all co-laborers in His mission and are called to faithfully serve as Christian missionaries wherever God has placed us.
To provide continuity, Mr. Ian Mark B. Villacruz facilitated a recap of the previous day’s discussions before Ms. Concepcion P. Diana led an in-depth presentation and analysis of the consolidated outputs from Workshop No. 1. Through extensive plenary discussions and the exchange of diverse perspectives, participants gained a clearer understanding of the organization’s critical gaps, operational bottlenecks, and emerging challenges. This collective reflection provided a valuable bird’s-eye view of the areas requiring strategic intervention to ensure that LIGHT continues moving toward the fulfillment of its mission, vision, and organizational goals.
The day’s session concluded with participants being tasked to develop practical recommendations, strategic solutions, and actionable plans that would effectively address the identified gaps and guide the organization toward achieving its desired outcomes and objectives for the second semester of 2026.
On the final day of the program, Ptra. Edith Pineda delivered a devotional message centered on “The Heart of the Leader God Uses.” She emphasized that God chooses leaders not based on outward appearance, status, or abilities, but on the condition of their hearts. Her message encouraged everyone to cultivate a Christ-centered heart, recognizing that true and effective leadership begins with wholehearted obedience to God’s will.
The day’s discussions focused on refining the proposed action plans and turning key organizational insights into practical strategies. Using the “Retain, Refine, and Remove” Framework, participants reviewed existing practices and identified which should be continued, which processes needed improvement, and which were no longer effective. This collaborative exercise generated valuable recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen organizational sustainability, and improve service excellence.
To synthesize the entire three-day engagement, Fr. Eddie T. Panlilio shared the seven salient points and key takeaways of the three-day organizational performance review and challenged everyone to remain steadfast in pursuing organizational excellence while remaining faithful to God’s calling. Fr. Panlilio underscored the importance of maintaining a deep and abiding relationship with God, reminding everyone that, like branches connected to the vine, true growth, strength, and fruitfulness come only from remaining rooted in Christ.
The program concluded with a Prayer of Commitment led by Ptra. Edith Pineda, Corporate Treasurer, during which participants dedicated commitments, and action points developed throughout the Organizational Performance Review and Assessment to the Lord. Together, everyone renewed their commitment to faithfully fulfill LIGHT’s mission of serving Partner-Clients and transforming communities through God’s sustaining grace.
As reflected in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” This powerful reminder encapsulated the spirit of the three-day program—affirming that while performance reviews, collaboration, and organizational excellence are essential, true success ultimately comes from entrusting every endeavor to God and faithfully carrying out His purpose for His glory.
