Today, May 24, 2024, a significant event aimed to provide the employees with accurate information was held at the Main Office and simultaneously broadcasted to all 58 branches nationwide. This comprehensive program featured two crucial sessions focused on Upskilling and Reskilling, hosted by Edward Guevarra, Training Specialist – HRD Department.
The first session, “SSS Update on Online Facilities,” was presented by Julie C. Maglangbayan, SS Senior Analyst of Accounts, Management Section. She began by explaining the fundamentals of Social Security, emphasizing its importance and the scope of benefits provided to its members. She detailed the SSS Membership structure, covering various benefits such as retirement, disability, maternity, sickness, and death benefits. This session aimed to familiarize the employees to efficiently utilize the SSS online facilities, ensuring they can easily access and manage their benefits.
The second session, led by Ian Mark Villacruz, HRD Manager, focused on “Leave Management Policy and Guidelines.” He elaborated the provisions of Article 95 of the Labor Code (PD 445), which mandates five days of incentive leave with pay for employees annually. He highlighted that numerous laws govern leave entitlements beyond this basic provision.
He outlined various benefits of incentive leaves, including improved physical health, enhanced mental health, greater overall well-being, increased mental motivation, better family relationships, reduced burnout, and elevated happiness level. He stressed that these benefits does not only enhance employee welfare but also contribute to higher productivity and a more positive workplace environment.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for an updated Leave Management Policy and Guidelines to ensure efficient and effective implementation. The policy enhancements were aligned with the organization’s needs, employees’ welfare, occupational health, and safety requirements mandated by the Department of Labor and Employment and risk management practices. This alignment aims to create a balanced approach that supports both the organizational goals and the well-being of employees.
