LIGHT MFI in Supporting Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

In observance of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, LIGHT Microfinance Inc. conducted an informative Upskilling and Reskilling Session today, May 16, 2025, to promote health education and awareness among its employees. The session was held at the Main Office and simulcast via Zoom for branch staff nationwide, ensuring that vital information reached all corners of the organization.

The session was led by Dr. Danica Camille P. Panlilio-Tuazon, MD, DPCP, who shared expert insights on a range of topics related to cervical health. Her discussion included an overview of the cervix, the causes and risk factors of cervical cancer, and the relevance of this disease to women across all ages and locations.

Participants learned about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) — the most common cause of cervical cancer — and the groups of individuals who are more prone to developing the disease. Dr. Tuazon also highlighted the importance of early prevention and detection, discussing effective preventive measures such as the HPV vaccination, regular cervical cancer screening, and the importance of routine gynecological care.

The session served as a timely reminder of the need to prioritize women’s health and encouraged LIGHT staff to become advocates of awareness within their families and communities. This initiative reflects LIGHT’s commitment to holistic development — not just for its clients and partners, but also for its dedicated team.

By investing in health education and awareness, LIGHT continues to empower its workforce with knowledge that saves lives and fosters well-being in the communities it serves.
