BFP Fire Safety and Earthquake Preparedness with LIGHT MFI

Today, May 26, 2026, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City of San Fernando Fire Station, conducted an Upskilling and Reskilling session on Fire Safety and Earthquake Preparedness at LIGHT Microfinance, Inc. Main Office. The seminar was led by SFO2 Pepito Velasco Jr., assisted by FO1 Marwin T. Pangilinan.

The session aimed to strengthen awareness and preparedness of LIGHT employees in responding to emergency situations such as fire incidents and earthquakes. It also reinforced the importance of proper coordination and quick response during unexpected emergencies in the workplace.

Participants were reminded of basic safety protocols in case of fire, including immediate alarm activation, evacuation procedures, and ensuring everyone reaches safety. Key concepts on fire behavior, classes of fire, and proper use of fire extinguishers were also briefly demonstrated during the session.

Earthquake preparedness was likewise discussed, including general safety reminders and proper response during drills, from the initial alarm to evacuation and assembly procedures. The importance of staying calm and following designated safety protocols was emphasized throughout the activity.

Emergency contact numbers from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were also provided to ensure readiness in case of actual emergencies.

The session served as a timely reminder of the importance of preparedness, coordination, and safety awareness in both workplace and community settings.
